How does the unit converter work?
Each unit is stored with a "toBase" conversion factor. The converter multiplies your input by the from-unit factor to get a base value, then multiplies by the to-unit inverse factor to get the result.
What is the difference between SI and imperial units?
SI (International System) uses meters, kilograms, seconds. Imperial uses feet, pounds, seconds. US Customary is similar to imperial but differs for volume (US gallon vs imperial gallon).
Why do temperature conversions differ from other units?
Temperature scales have different zero points (offsets), not just multipliers. °C → K adds 273.15; °C → °F uses offset + scaling factor.
What unit systems are supported?
SI (metric), Imperial (UK), and US Customary units are all supported. The converter includes over 80 units across 13 categories.
How are pressure units handled?
All pressure values are converted through the base unit Pascal (Pa). The converter includes Pa, kPa, MPa, GPa, bar, psi, ksi, psf, atm, mm Hg, and N/mm².
What flow units are available?
Flow units include L/s, m³/s, m³/hr, L/min, GPM (US and Imperial), CFS (cubic feet per second), and MGD (million gallons per day).
How are moment/torque units converted?
Moment units N·m, kN·m, lb·ft, and kip·ft are supported. Base unit is N·m. These follow standard factor-based conversion (no offset).
